Pxie (“we”, “us”) is based in Alberta, Canada. This policy explains what personal information we collect through the Pxie website, API, MCP server and dashboard, why we collect it, who we share it with, how long we keep it and what choices you have. It applies in addition to our Terms of Use.
1. Information we collect
You give us
- Contact form: your name, email address, company (if given), the vertical you are interested in and your message. We use it to reply to you.
- Account: your email address and sign-in details through our authentication provider, your plan, and the time your account was created, which is when you agreed to our Terms and Privacy Policy by signing up.
- Billing: managed by Stripe. We store a Stripe customer identifier, your plan and subscription status. We do not store your full card number.
- Alerts and customer data: if you use grid alerts, the substation and line details you enter, and the email address or webhook address you choose for alerts.
- Support: messages you send to hello@pxie.ai.
Collected automatically
- API usage: for each call, your account and key identifier, the endpoint, credits used, status and time.
- IP addresses: we keep the five most recent different IP addresses used with your account (from dashboard, API and MCP requests) to protect your account and detect abuse. A new address replaces the oldest one, and you can see yours on the Account page of the dashboard. IP addresses are also used briefly to rate-limit requests and to enforce an IP allowlist if you set one, and our hosting providers’ standard logs may include them.
- Security and operations: our hosting providers keep standard request and error logs.
- Website: see “Cookies and similar technologies” below for what this website stores on your device.
2. How we use it
- to provide, secure and bill for the Service, and to enforce rate limits and credits;
- to reply to your questions and send service messages such as low-credit and alert emails;
- to protect accounts and prevent abuse, fraud and spam (including the recent IP addresses described above and the Cloudflare Turnstile check on our contact form); and
- to meet legal obligations.
Where the law requires a legal basis, we rely on performing our contract with you, our legitimate interests in running and securing the Service and preventing fraud and abuse, and legal obligations.
3. Who we share it with
We do not sell personal information. We share it with service providers who help us run Pxie, under agreements that limit their use of it:
| Provider | What for |
|---|---|
| Cloudflare | Website and API hosting, database, storage, spam protection, email routing |
| Google Cloud | API processing in Montréal, Canada, and secret storage |
| Clerk | Sign-in and user accounts |
| Stripe | Payments and billing |
| Resend | Sending email (alerts, account messages, contact form delivery) |
See Data Processing for details. We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect rights and safety.
4. Where it is processed
Pxie is based in Canada. Our providers operate in Canada, the United States and other countries, so your information can be processed outside your province or country, where it may be accessible to courts and authorities under local law. For questions about our policies and practices for service providers outside Canada, write to our Privacy Officer (see Contact).
5. How long we keep it
| Data | Kept for |
|---|---|
| API usage log | 2 years, then deleted |
| Expired credit records | 90 days after expiry |
| Closed accounts | Your email and other personal details are removed when you close the account, except the recent IP addresses described below; the account shell is deleted after 30 days |
| Recent IP addresses (last five) | While your account is open. After you delete your account, 180 days, then deleted. We keep them longer only if we must to meet a legal obligation or to establish, exercise or defend a legal claim |
| Payment event identifiers | 90 days |
| Billing records | As required by tax and accounting law, held by Stripe |
| Contact form messages | While needed to respond and keep a record of the conversation |
| Database backups | Nightly backups of our account database are deleted after 35 days. Until a backup is deleted it may contain details of accounts that have since been closed, including their recent IP addresses. Access is restricted to authorized Pxie personnel |
6. Cookies and similar technologies
- Strictly necessary: our spam check (Cloudflare Turnstile) loads when you start the contact form and may store information on your device to verify that you are human. Our sign-in provider uses cookies on the dashboard, which is a separate site.
We do not use analytics or marketing cookies on this website. If that changes, a cookie banner will ask for your consent first and this policy will be updated.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you can ask to access, correct or delete your personal information, to withdraw consent, to object to or limit some uses, and to receive a copy of your data. You can see your recent IP addresses, download your data and delete your account yourself on the Account page of the dashboard (or through the API). To make any other request, email hello@pxie.ai. We will respond within the time required by applicable law. If you are not satisfied, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta, or your local data protection authority.
We aim to handle personal information in line with Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and Alberta’s Personal Information Protection Act and, for visitors in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom, the GDPR principles that apply to us.
8. Security
We use measures described on our Security page. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure. If a breach creates a real risk of significant harm, we will notify affected people and the regulator as required by law.
9. Children
The Service is not directed to children and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
10. Changes
We will post updates here with a new date and, for material changes, notify account holders by email.
