Solar Wind Data
Watch what the Sun sends our way.
Pxie's solar wind data gives real-time speed and density measured upstream of Earth, and an hourly outlook up to 96 hours ahead.
Plan: Builder plan.
Coverage: Anywhere on Earth, both hemispheres.
What Solar Wind Data gives you.
Real-time solar wind speed and density
The latest solar wind speed and particle density, measured upstream of Earth, so you see conditions before they arrive.
A 96-hour solar wind outlook
An hourly speed outlook up to 96 hours ahead, with the expected arrival time and speed of the next fast solar wind stream.
Interplanetary magnetic field (IMF) in the API
The solar wind endpoint returns speed and density only. The north–south and east–west components of the interplanetary magnetic field are included as drivers in Pxie's aurora forecast and aurora oval responses.

Solar Wind Data questions.
Where does the solar wind data come from?
It is measured upstream of Earth and processed by Pxie into clean, consistent values.
Is there an interplanetary magnetic field API?
IMF components are returned with Pxie's aurora forecast and aurora oval data. The solar wind endpoint itself returns speed and density.
How far ahead is the solar wind outlook?
Up to 96 hours, in hourly steps.
